As much as we love a matte face and a killer smokey eye, they have a time and a place and the beach just isn’t one of them. When humidity is rife and the heat is Indo-intense, looking Bond-girl beachy is arguably easier said than done.

Striking the perfect balance between effortlessly balmy and Bondi-beautified is attainable with the help of a few miracle milks, mists and tantalizing tricks of the trade. Nobody wants the old faithfuls to melt, but going completely barefaced in the summer sun will wreak havoc on your skin. So get your SPF’s into gear and master the art of beachability. It’s all about being sheer, light and lug free. Cue sunshine and sand between (pedicured) toes…Bliss.

1. Shine on you crazy diamond.

Avoid greasy t-zones and excess sunscreen sheen with Tatcha Blotting Papers. Keeping excess oil mopped up will also help prevent summer breakouts.

2. Lighten your SPF load

Cover yourself at home before beach going (twenty minutes before sun exposure) and reapply every two hours and after dips.

3. An immaculate complexion

Lightweight enough to prevent a troublesome T-Zone whilst giving just a hint of coverage and luminosity, it also contains a handy SPF lip balm hidden in the lid. Sheer genius.

4. Heavenly hydration

The sun and the sea can zap the skin of its protective moisture barrier. Rehydrate with a mist that’s full of skin benefits, as opposed to a fast-fix cool down or spring water spray. Jurlique’s Mist in Soothing Chamomile is part-refresher part-after sun care. Pretty proactivity at it’s best!

5. Ice, ice baby

This little wonder is living proof a little ingenuity goes a long way. Pop Kids Konserve Ice Pack and Sweat Free Coverin the freezer over night and it’ll stay cool virtually all day. The silicon doesn’t melt like a regular ice pack, and as well keeping your drink bottle and mist super refreshing, it can also double as a cold-pressed remedy for puffy eyes.

6. Tubular bells

The threat of panda-monium has most of us reaching for waterproof mascara but the truth is they seriously dry out your lashes and are ridiculously hard to remove. Tube Mascara on the other hand is a blessing for beach-faring lasses. The formula wraps each lash in a micro-tubing formula which can be removed and dissolved gently with your fingers when you wash your face.  Becca The Ultimate Mascara is formulated for beach days and balmy nights.

7. Two-in-one treasure

Along with a (faux) golden glow, beach hair is one of summer’s most sought after beauty blessings. If you’d rather get your insouciant tousled texture from a bottle rather than the ocean, reach for a sea spray. DeLorenzo Elements Ocean Mist Sea Salt Styling Spray is a texturiser and protectant in one. Think of it as a beautifying sun shield for your hair. Weightless, gritty and good to go.

Hi Ange, I loved it. it’s really light and absorbs easily without any ghosting effect on the skin.
